Assessment Center
The Assessment Center provides testing services that meet the various needs of the student population. Services include administration of the Texas Success Initiative Assessment for course placement, CLEP (credit by examination), and external (non-Alamo Colleges District) correspondence testing.
The Course Exam Center (CEC) provides testing services to currently enrolled Alamo College students consisting of make-up testing for students who miss an exam date, distance learning testing for online courses at NLC, or other colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, and accommodated testing for students who have proper documentation.

If you have previously taken the TSI and need to submit scores to NLC please complete the Cross Institutional Reporting form, this allows NLC to pull your previous score report. Once we pull your scores we will follow up with you regarding your next enrollment steps.
College Board Accuplacer provides Meazure Learning ProctorU Proctoring Platform as the online proctor services for the TSI Assessment so students may take it from home. Meazure Learning has contracted with College Board which is the maker of the TSI Assessment. Northeast Lakeview College's Testing Office only provides the voucher needed to take the TSI with Meazure Learning. Please allow two business days to process your request.

Meazure Learning ProctorU On-line Proctoring Fee

The TSI Assessment voucher fee is for re-takes only. In addition to the fee, Meazure Learning charges its own fee to provide on-line proctoring service. Students will pay this fee when scheduling their appointment with Meazure Learning.
If you would like to pursue the Meazure Learning option, use the following steps as your guide:
Step 1: Verify you meet the technology requirements
Computer Requirements
- Browser: Google Chrome v39 or later, Firefox v34 or later, Internet Explorer v8 or later, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari v6 or later. Please disable your pop-up blocker.
- Operating System: Windows 7 or later, Mac OS 10.8 or later
- Equipment: Desktop or laptop computer or Chromebooks (tablets and phones are not supported)
- Built-in or external webcam, microphone and speakers
- 2GB or more of RAM
- Internet Connection: An upload and download speed of 2Mbps

Step 2: Make sure you know the rules to take the TSI from Home
- You will be asked to show the same current and valid photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Driver’s license, High School ID, Military ID, Middle School ID, State or federal approved ID, College ID, Passport, Tribal ID card, Naturalization card or certificate of citizenship.
- You must have a voucher number provided by ACCUPLACER.
- You must test alone in a quiet room without disruptions.
- The following are not allowed during testing:
- Food, drink, calculators, and breaks.
- Scratch paper is allowed along with a standard pen/pencil.
- You will be asked to show both sides of your scratch paper to the proctor at the beginning and end of your test session.

Prohibited Items
- Any device capable of recording audio, photographic, or video content, or capable of viewing or playing back such content
- Unauthorized testing aids
- Calculators (test takers with prescribed accommodation and those taking an accommodated format exempted)
- Test taker provided keyboard, computer, or laptop, unless there is a documented disabling condition that requires the use of a very specific device
- Cellular phones, tablets, pagers, smartphones, walkie-talkies, PDA's, or wireless communication devices
- Dictionaries (standard and/or bilingual), books, pamphlets, or other reference materials
- Digital cameras
- Digital watches, smartwatches, or wristwatch cameras
- Flash/Thumb drives or any other portable electronic device
- Food, beverages, or tobacco products
- Listening devices such as radios, media players (with or without headphones), or recorders
- Nonmedical electronic devices
- Paper of any kind (scratch paper must be provided and destroyed by the test center administrator; test takers cannot use or discard their own scratch paper)
- Slide rules, protractors, compasses, or rulers
- Weapons, firearms, or other items prohibited by law or test center/campus safety and security polices
Step 3: Request to take the TSI from Home
If you have decided to move forward with Meazure Learning ProctorU Proctoring Platform, you MUST complete a TSI Assessment Voucher Request with Northeast Lakeview College. By completing the Voucher Request Form, you confirm you have read and understood the rules in Step 2. If you have not read Step 2 please go back and do so now. Reviewing the list of prohibited items before your exam date can help ensure a safe and secure testing session.
Step 4: Submit Payment
Once your request is received, the Testing Office will send you an email with instructions on payment for the TSI Assessment Voucher.
After payment has been made, you will then be emailed a TSI Assessment Voucher from College Board Accuplacer the maker of the Assessment.
Step 5: Set up an appointment with Meazure Learning after you receive your Voucher
You will receive your voucher by Email from Accuplacer. It will provide instructions on creating your account with Meazure Learning in order to make an appointment to take your TSI Assessment at home. You will need your voucher at that time.

The Assessment & Course Exam Center at NLC offers proctoring services for distance-learning students from other institutions and community members seeking certain professional certifications and licensure.
Exams can be taken via computer or paper, there is a $20 proctoring fee for each test administered. All testing is by appointment only, for appointment availability please visit our scheduling page. Once we receive your appointment request we will follow up with you via email, your appointment is not considered confirmed until you recieve notification from us.

The Texas Success Initiative or TSI is a state mandate that requires all students to demonstrate college readiness in reading, writing, and math before taking college-level credit courses.
Exemptions & Waivers
You may be eligible for an exemption or waiver from the TSI based on your previous college coursework, military experience or previous test scores. Do not take the TSI if any of the following apply to you:
College Coursework
You earned an associates degree or higher or you have an official transcript from an accredited institution with college-level math and English courses.
Military Experience
You were honorably discharged, retired, or released from active duty, Texas National Guard, or military reserves on or after August 1, 1990. You are on active-duty service in the US military, the Texas National Guard or as a reservist and have completed at least three years of service before enrolling at the Alamo College District.
Level 1 Certificate Program
You are seeking a certificate program of one year or less (42 or fewer semester credit hours). If you change your major or certificate level program then TSI requirements will apply.

Pre-Assessment Activity
All students taking the TSI assessment must complete both the GoFAAAR and test prep modules located under the Start Here tab in your ACES account.
Collectively called the Pre-Assessment Activity, these online modules address:
- The importance of assessment in a student's academic career.
- Provide sample questions in all subject areas covered on the TSI.
- Offer information on developmental education options including course pairing, non-course based, modular and other non-conventional interventions.
- Information on institutional and community resources available to assist students with college success.
The pre-assessment activity must be completed prior to testing, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Scheduling a TSI Appointment
Before scheduling a TSI appointment please be sure the following items are completed:
- An active application must be on file
- Pre-assessment activity complete
- Log into ACES
- Complete Test Prep Module (found under "Start Here" tab)
Once the above-listed items are complete, you may schedule a TSI appointment by visiting our scheduling page.
TSI Fees
$32 for a full exam
$24 for English Language Arts and Reading only (may also include essay)
$12 for Math only
$12 for Essay Retest only
You will be sent an email confirming your appointment, this confirmation will include a link to the virtual business office to pay your test fee. Please do not pay your test fee until you have received your email confirmation, we want to ensure you are paying the correct fee. You also have to option to pay cash or check, plan on arriving at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to use this payment option.
On Test Day
Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
You will need to show a valid picture ID and proof of test fee payment.
A valid picture ID is required of all testers....NO EXCEPTIONS.
